Just in time for Halloween! Lovely pumpkin designs!

DIY Painted Halloween Pumpkins | check out the step-by-step at www.pearlsandsportsbras.com |

This fall the trend is painting pumpkins, rather than carving. I won’t lie, I’d much rather paint these things than make a huge mess cutting into them. I think this is probably a better alternative for the littler kids as well! There are so many different ways to use your own creativity with this project, but for simplicity, I’ll show you the easiest way I’ve found to paint pumpkins for decor.

For this demo I used craft pumpkins instead of real ones because I plan on keeping these decorations around to reuse year after year – real ones could be used though to make this project even less expensive. The pumpkins I used are from Michael’s (I got them for 50% off!). Feel free to use your own imagination and experiment, happy creating!

Cour des Petites-Écuries – Paris’ Best Kept Secret

For this week’s collaboration I present you Chloe from My Life Living Abroad. Check her blog to find out a lot of tips about Paris and interesting ideas. I like it so very much!

everydayfacts paris

She is sharing in this post a really fashionable, cool and secret place in Paris, you should think about trying it out next time you will be here. Hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I did.

This adorable little courtyard is, and has been since I discovered it, one of my favourite secret spots in Paris. I lived in Paris for almost 5 years before I finally found this little piece of heaven nestled in the heart of the buzzing 10th arrondissement.

So let me tell you all about why it’s such a special spot for people living in Paris…

Cour des Petites Écuries literally translated means the courtyard of little stables and got its name from the horses that were kept there in 1769 when the courtyard was first built. Since then it has become a residential area with a delightful assortment of pubs, bars and restaurants. Best of all, it is completely unknown to tourists.

The people who go to this quirky courtyard are well-informed Parisians who know the cool places to go. Inside the courtyard there is a real London feel; people spilling out onto the pavements with beers in their hands and people outside sitting on tables or on the pavement chatting, smoking and drinking.

The atmosphere is lively and cheerful with people chattering animatedly in the street. Most of the bars are really cheap and the happy hours are extended much longer than usual! My two favourite bars are the Tribal Café and the O’Petit Paris where Happy Hour is from 2pm until 9pm. Drinks are very cheap, around 3 euros for a glass of wine or a pint of beer and even when happy hour ends the prices are still very low! It’s the perfect place to enjoy yourself on a budget!

The Tribal Café also offers free food! That’s right, cheap drinks, a great atmosphere AND free food. On Friday’s and Saturday’s they offer free couscous and on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s it’s free moules-frites! What could be better?

And if you’re not looking for a bar, there’s the more upmarket Brasserie Flo where, according to its website, you will be “plunged into the heart of Alsace and its gastronomy in an authentic setting dating from the 19th century!”

Password Shoes: The Best Idea Ever

I have fallen in love, yes yes, yet again, but this time it’s here to last. Cause shoes are my best friend and customizable shoes are an eternal friend. Just imagine the infinite possibilities. Me, designing my own shoes…That is something to look forward to! Thanks to the higher powers I have discovered Password- The World at your feet shoes – the shoes that will help you conquer the world.

And I was lucky enough to get an interview with the owner of this business, Paula. Check it below and may you fall in love with her creations as much as I did.

How have you decided to create and start Password? What inspired you? Can you explain the concept?

I went from #selfeet and tons of likes for my shoes on Facebook to building a custom made shoe brand for my friends, their friends, the friends of their friends and so on 🙂

Their desire to play with colors and prints on the same style made me think of a way to enable it remotely, mobile friendly. From here, the exquisite business design for Password. Their way of living, of enjoying fashion in so many different ways made me think of four types of women I would love to create for all the time: candy girl, amazing mom, party aficionada, 24/7 business lady. From here, the unconventional way I organised customer’s journey in the eshop.

I wanted to be a combination of social media, storytelling and e-commerce. And I got close to my vision with the result.

What were your first steps when starting your label?

I paid a business visit to my Romanian shoemakers, old gents with high standards, and told them we’ve got some handmade happiness to deliver, possibly in the whole country or in the whole Europe. They were totally in.

I made a huge brainstorming with my friends to find out their inspiration, their desires, their needs when it comes to shoes and established the styles, the must have colors, the heels, the bows etc.

I draw the website 🙂 Made an evaluation of the mockups with some great web professionals regarding UI/UX. And started the programming, pampam.

Where does the name Password come from?

I encourage women to reveal their true self by customizing the shoes, to get over fears and templates, to be authentic, because that’s what it takes to conquer the world, that’s the password, the key to having the world at your feet. The logo comes from my handwriting.

Favorite model from your creations? What do you love about this pair?

A pair of white, stylish and comfortable shoes, named Carrie. I thought that, if Carrie Bradshaw were a mother, she would definitely wear these beauties on the streets of NY city.

Do you consider that shoes are a form of rebellion today?

I consider shoes and heels, of course, a form of empowerment, that is why I am doing this business, although I have sold tons of dresses 🙂 in the last five years as a fashion ecommerce director for some UE clothing businesses.

Do you have a shoe designer that you admire?

Charlotte Olympia always makes me smile, the collections are so playful, each piece tells a story, it’s like a signature, love it!

Favorite trend this season?

The patchwork!  But also reptile and jewelled shoes.

Which of the characters from Sex and The City do you think you resemble – style wise?

I am definitely a Carrie with my storytelling and my love dramas and my inclination towards designing the future, not just expecting it. I also have a touch of Samantha, I’m too flirty and too courageous, sometimes 🙂

Where would you like to live? Favorite city?

I am in love with Vancouver because of the mix mountains-sea-big city, because of the entrepreneurial spirit and the cool tech startups and all the thrill; I would like to live there. Amsterdam is my favorite city, my city of therapy, although is very cosmopolitan. I would be there every weekend, if I had the time to travel so often.

Best holiday destination?

I was born in Bran, in the mountains, near an amazing castle, from the year 1377. Every landscape there is a postcard, I highly recommend the destination for your winter or summer holiday!

The Ultimate Must-Have Item by The Life of a Lady

For this week’s collaboration I introduce the blogger Brittani from The Life of a Lady. And she has fallen in love with this amazing pair of sandals. Check her post for yourselves below!

Hey everyone! My name is Brittani from The Life of a Lady! I’m so honored to be a guest blogger here on Everydayfacts.

Today, I’m showing you my favorite item in my closet at the moment. After all, it changes fairly often, but this pair of sandals has been in the top spot for a few months now. These Sam Edelman’s are my go to shoe choice when I don’t know what else to wear! I get so many compliments on them every time I’m sporting them, and that’s always nice to hear, right?

I love pairing these sandals with anything and everything, from a romper, like in my “Life in Color” post, to a swing dress, like in my “I’ve got that tribal feeling…” and “Pretty Spring Days” posts. A great, neutral pair of sandals can be thrown on with anything, and that’s my favorite kind of shoe! The gold hardware on this particular pair sets them apart from others. It adds a unique detail that you don’t see very often, which is the whole reason they’re my favorite sandals!

If you’re interested in these shoes, they are still available at dsw.com!

I hope you enjoyed my guest post! Be sure to keep up with me on itsthelifeofalady.blogspot.com! I love making new fashion friends!
